With over 100 million copies sold in over 40 languages, millions have grown up with "The Lord of the Rings," the classic epic tale considered by millions to be the greatest fantasy-adventure story ever told. J.R.R. Tolkien's phenomenal epic trilogy chronicles the struggle between good and evil for possession of a magical ring. The book trilogy, named the most popular book of the 20th Century, is the motion picture event of the 21st Century. "The Lord of the Rings" is presented in a trilogy of feature films from New Line Cinema, "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King," the last to be released in December 2003. A work of sheer invention on a staggering scale, "The Lord of the Rings" takes us back to Middle-earth, an era that predates written history, where humans share the world with immortal elves, powerful wizards, and industrious dwarves.
Elendil, wise and fair King and builder of the strongholds of Gondor, kept watch over much of Middle-earth. For more than an Age, a great darkness covered the lands until Elendil united with Gil-galad to form The Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Elendil led his men to victory against Sauron and his legions of orcs, in the Battle of Dagorlad. Then, on the slopes of Mount Orodruin, despite heavy losses, the Alliance managed to drive Sauron's forces back. Cornered there, Sauron himself took to the battlefield. After heavy battle, Sauron slayed the Great King of Men, Elendil, and shattered his legendary sword, Narsil. The armour and helm of Elendil were adorned with the feathered wings and crests of seabirds. These emblems represented Elendil's arrival from over the sea in ships that sailed on the wings of the wind. The crest and wings of Elendil's helm were slighty larger than other Gondorian helms, symbolizing his status as king.

Accompanying his father to the Council of Elrond at Rivendell, Gimli is chosen to represent the Dwarves in the Fellowship of the Ring. After the Fellowship becomes separated, Gimli fights valiantly alongside Legolas and Aragorn from the Battle of Helms Deep to the Black Gates of Mordor. With his unshakable determination for success, he proves to be a valuable aid to the Fellowship. In Moria, after a cave-troll destroys the tomb of his forefather, Balin, Gimli is able to retrieve the mighty two-handed Battle Axe that had once belonged to the Dwarf-lord. From that point on, Gimli uses this Battle Axe for all close combat. Prepared for as many different situations as possible, he carries the Battle Axe with him, along with his Walking Axe, Bearded Axe, and two throwing axes. The massive head of this Battle Axe could be swung in both directions, making it a good choice for rapid moving combat. Sold Out
